- HEAR fiddle tunes brought from Ireland and Scotland.
- LISTEN to the banjo and learn how it came from Africa.
- SING songs about nature and farming.
- DANCE squares and the Virginia Reel.
- LEARN about the instruments of a traditional American string band—fiddle, mandolin, banjo and guitar—and that the fiddle (or violin) was developed by Italian craftsman four hundred years ago.

Co-founders of the Ashokan Foundation, Jay & Molly, are best known for Jay's composition Ashokan Farewell, the musical centerpiece of Ken Burns PBS-TV series The Civil War.
They have a passion for the music and dance traditions of America and love to share their knowledge with young people. This is reflected in the respectful way that they engage students with music and dance.
